Taiwanese PVC Producer Raises August Prices Across Asia After July Cuts

For August, the producer increased its PVC K67 offer to India by $45/ton, bringing the price to $860/ton CIF India on a cash basis. Offers to China were raised by $50/ton to $810/ton CIF China, while the FOB Taiwan export price also moved up $50/ton to $780/ton.
Unlike the previous month, the producer has not offered any volume discounts for August shipments. In July, buyers purchasing more than 1,000 tons were eligible for a $10/ton discount across all destinations, but that incentive has now been withdrawn.
The market had been waiting for this announcement, with many buyers in India and Southeast Asia delaying purchases until the regional benchmark was released. As a result, trading activity remained slow over the past few weeks, with most participants preferring to wait for the producer's monthly pricing before making fresh buying decisions.
While the higher August offers are expected to support sentiment in the Asian PVC market, industry participants believe actual buying activity will depend on whether converters are willing to accept the revised prices. Weak downstream demand and comfortable supply levels across much of Asia continue to weigh on purchasing decisions despite the stronger pricing direction.
