Propylene Prices March Higher in Asia

Propylene prices in Asia have experienced an upward trend, driven by stronger upstream energy values, tight supply, and higher costs. This increase has been observed despite the largely need-based buying across key Asian markets. Notably, FOB Korea prices were assessed at USD 1,155–1,165/mt, marking an increase of USD 30/mt, while CFR China prices also rose by USD 30/mt to USD 1,195–1,205/mt.
The rise in propylene prices has had a cascading effect on polypropylene (PP) prices in the region. In India, PP raffia and PP injection prices have increased to USD 1,300-1,340/mt, reflecting a spike of USD 30-40/mt from the previous week. This trend is consistent with the broader Asian market, where PP prices have shown mixed movements due to varying regional dynamics.
While propylene prices in Asia have risen, the global market presents a different picture. European and US propylene prices have declined amid weak demand, highlighting the regional disparities in the polymer market. As such, Indian buyers should be aware of these regional price fluctuations and adjust their procurement strategies accordingly.
