LDPE Film Prices in Southeast Asia Hit Record $2000 CIF Vietnam

This surge represents a significant jump compared to previous peaks, surpassing levels seen during the post-pandemic rally. Weekly increases have been substantial, with some offers rising by as much as $200 per ton.
Suppliers from ASEAN countries have also followed the upward trend, quoting LDPE film prices in the range of $1950–1970 per ton CIF, reflecting a strong bullish sentiment across the region.
The rally is being driven primarily by tight supply conditions, logistical disruptions, and increased production and transportation costs linked to the Middle East conflict. Even with a ceasefire in place, supply chains remain strained, forcing exporters to rely on alternative and more expensive shipping routes.
Market participants report that some Middle Eastern suppliers are redirecting cargo via different ports using land transport before export, adding to overall costs and supporting higher pricing levels.
However, despite the strong upward momentum, demand remains weak. Buyers across Southeast Asia are showing resistance to the rapid price increases, often delaying purchases or shifting to lower-cost alternatives.
Many converters are adopting a cautious buying approach, purchasing only when necessary, while some traders note a growing preference for Chinese-origin material due to more competitive pricing.
The sharp rise in prices, combined with fragile demand, has raised concerns about how long the rally can sustain, with some market players anticipating a potential correction if buying activity does not improve.
