Egypt’s SIDPEC cuts May PE prices to stay competitive in local market

The producer reduced its PE offers by EGP 21,000–22,000 per ton (around $391–410/ton). Market sources indicate that SIDPEC adjusted its pricing after losing competitiveness, as its earlier offers were significantly higher than prevailing local market levels.
According to participants, the availability of lower-priced Saudi material forced the producer to revise prices in order to maintain market share.
Latest Price List (ex-Alexandria, 60-day payment terms, excluding VAT)
Polyethylene (PE)
HDPE Film: Current price EGP 90,000/ton; decreased by EGP 22,000 from EGP 112,000/ton
HDPE Blow Molding: Current price EGP 93,000/ton; decreased by EGP 22,000 from EGP 115,000/ton
HDPE Injection: Current price EGP 92,000/ton; decreased by EGP 21,000 from EGP 113,000/ton
The price cuts highlight ongoing competitive pressure in Egypt’s PE market, where cheaper imports are influencing local pricing dynamics and forcing producers to realign their offers.
