Egypt’s SIDPEC Raises September PE Prices Sharply Amid Tight Import Supply

SIDPEC increased its HDPE film offer by EGP13,000/ton ($250/ton) from the initial September level. HDPE blow molding and injection grades were each raised by EGP10,000/ton ($193/ton).
Market sources said the increases followed the withdrawal of September offers by major Middle Eastern suppliers amid rising regional tensions and attacks on Saudi Arabia. With fresh Middle Eastern material becoming largely unavailable, tighter import availability has created additional support for domestic PE prices.
The latest increase represents a significant change from SIDPEC’s initial September pricing strategy. Earlier this month, the producer reduced prices across its main HDPE grades as weak demand and competition from lower-priced Saudi spot cargoes weighed on the domestic market.
All prices are on an ex-Alexandria basis with 60-day deferred payment terms, excluding VAT.

The sharp revision highlights the impact of reduced import availability on Egypt’s domestic PE market, with the absence of fresh Middle Eastern cargoes giving the local producer greater room to raise offers.
