Egyptian PE Producers Announce Further Domestic Price Increases for November

Egypt’s domestic polyethylene market continued its upward movement at the start of November, with SIDPEC and ETHYDCO implementing fresh price increases following October’s gains. Stronger international market indications and limited import activity have supported local sellers’ pricing strategies. Meanwhile, restricted deliveries from one producer have further tightened availability in the domestic market.

SIDPEC Raises HDPE Film and Injection Prices

SIDPEC increased its HDPE film offers by EGP3,000/ton ($54/ton) and HDPE injection prices by EGP2,000/ton ($36/ton) compared with its latest October price list. HDPE blow-moulding prices remained unchanged.

Market participants said SIDPEC maintained a firm pricing approach amid stronger global indications and limited competition from imports.

The producer’s latest offers, on an ex-Alexandria, cash, excluding VAT basis, are as follows:

HDPE Film
- Current Price: EGP83,000/ton ($1,596/ton)
- Previous Price: EGP80,000/ton
- Increase: EGP3,000/ton ($54/ton)

HDPE Blow Moulding
- Current Price: EGP80,000/ton ($1,538/ton)
- Previous Price: EGP80,000/ton
- Change: Unchanged

HDPE Injection
- Current Price: EGP80,000/ton ($1,500/ton)
- Previous Price: EGP78,000/ton
- Increase: EGP2,000/ton ($36/ton)

ETHYDCO Implements Larger Adjustments

ETHYDCO also raised its prices substantially against its mid-October offers. HDPE film and LLDPE C4 film prices were increased by EGP7,000/ton ($126/ton) each, while HDPE injection prices recorded a larger hike of EGP8,000/ton ($144/ton).

The producer did not issue fresh November offers for HDPE pipe (PE80) or HDPE blow-moulding grades.

ETHYDCO’s latest offers are quoted on an ex-Alexandria, cash, excluding VAT basis:
