Rupee Weakens Against Dollar

Rupee Weakens Against Dollar
The Indian rupee came under pressure this week as the US dollar strengthened sharply against major currencies. According to the latest market data, the dollar was trading at ₹95.52, compared with around ₹94.43 a week earlier.

This means the rupee has weakened by approximately ₹1.09 per dollar over the past week, representing a decline of nearly 1.15%. The move marks one of the strongest weekly gains for the US dollar against the rupee in recent weeks.

The currency pair had remained relatively stable through most of June before the dollar began climbing in the final days of the month. The rise pushed the exchange rate back above the ₹95 mark, reaching its highest level in about a month.

A weaker rupee can increase the cost of imports for Indian buyers, including crude oil, petrochemicals, polymers, and other dollar-denominated commodities. Market participants will closely monitor global economic developments and US dollar strength to assess the rupee's direction in the coming weeks.
