INR Strengthens Against Dollar, USD/INR Falls Over 2% in One Month

The Indian Rupee strengthened significantly against the US Dollar over the past month, with the USD/INR pair declining by more than 2%. According to the latest market data, the exchange rate fell to ₹94.33 per US Dollar on June 20, compared with levels above ₹96 seen during parts of May.
The decline reflects a steady weakening of the dollar against the rupee throughout the month. After trading near the ₹96 mark in late May and early June, the currency pair gradually moved lower, with selling pressure intensifying during the second half of June.
A stronger rupee can help reduce India's import costs, particularly for commodities such as crude oil, polymers, chemicals, and other dollar-denominated raw materials. Lower import costs may ease pressure on manufacturers and processors that rely heavily on overseas purchases.
For exporters, however, a stronger rupee can reduce the value of dollar earnings when converted back into local currency, potentially impacting competitiveness in global markets.
Market participants will continue to monitor global economic developments, US monetary policy signals, and foreign investment flows, as these factors are likely to influence the direction of the rupee in the coming weeks.
