India’s Polymer Producers Announce Price Hike Across PP & PE Grades Effective 19 January

According to the latest producer notifications:
All PP grades increased by ₹1,000/MT
PP Raffia increased by ₹1,500/MT
All HDPE, LLDPE, and LDPE grades increased by ₹1,000/MT
Market participants noted that the sharper increase in PP Raffia indicates tightening supply expectations ahead of seasonal demand from woven sack and packaging sectors. Meanwhile, the uniform ₹1,000/MT rise across HDPE, LLDPE, and LDPE follows steady gains in global ethylene and naphtha prices, which have pushed polymer production costs higher.
Converters reported receiving revised price circulars early on Saturday, with several buyers pausing procurement to reassess short-term requirements. Traders said that while demand remains moderate, producers are looking to align domestic prices with rising import parity levels.
The latest revision marks one of the notable upward adjustments of January and positions the market for potentially firmer sentiment as cost pressures persist.
