Formosa to Reduce August PVC Supply Across Asia Amid Planned Taiwan Plant Maintenance

According to market participants, buyers in several Asian countries have received much smaller allocations than usual. The lower availability is being attributed not only to the upcoming maintenance shutdown but also to ongoing feedstock supply limitations. An Indian market source noted that August allocations have been kept extremely limited because of both the plant turnaround and raw material constraints.
Some industry estimates suggest that Formosa's August allocation may be around 25,000 tons, substantially lower than its normal monthly sales volume of 70,000–80,000 tons. However, these figures have not been officially confirmed.
The tighter supply comes shortly after the producer announced higher August PVC prices for Asian markets. The planned production outage is expected to provide additional support to regional PVC sentiment by restricting available supply. Nevertheless, buyers continue to purchase cautiously as downstream demand remains weak, leaving uncertainty over whether the recent price increase can be sustained.
