China’s Major Producers’ Polyolefin Inventories Drop Below 600,000 Tons

As of July 17, combined inventories stood at 595,000 tons, down 25,000 tons from the previous week, representing a 4% weekly decrease. The lower inventory levels indicate improved material movement and stronger buying activity compared to recent weeks.
Market participants attributed the decline mainly to renewed concerns over supply risks linked to rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Higher crude oil and feedstock prices have lifted polymer costs, prompting some buyers to secure material in advance to protect against potential price increases.
Although inventory levels have eased, market participants believe future trends will continue to depend on developments in energy markets, regional supply conditions, and downstream demand.
