RIL Revises PE Polymer Prices with Selective Increases

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced a revision in the prices of certain polyethylene (PE) polymer grades, effective from October 10, 2023. The price adjustment reflects a selective firmness in specific grades while maintaining stability in others.
According to the latest update, the price of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe has increased by ₹3/kg. Similarly, Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) used in extrusion coating and injection molding has also seen a price rise of ₹3/kg. However, prices for other HDPE, Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), and other LDPE grades remain unchanged.
This price revision comes amidst varying demand and supply dynamics in the polymer market. HDPE is known for its rigidity and is commonly used in applications such as water supply pipes, while LDPE is favored for its flexibility and is used in film extrusion applications. LLDPE, which offers a balance of properties, is often used in high-performance film applications.
The selective price increase by RIL indicates a strategic response to market conditions, aiming to balance demand with production costs while ensuring competitive pricing for their diverse product range.
