Turkey’s Polymer Imports Rebound in June

Imports of Homo PP and PP Copolymer recovered from the previous month's decline. Combined import value climbed to nearly $340 million, up 20% from May and 42% higher than June 2025, while total volumes increased 4% month-on-month and 7% year-on-year. Saudi Arabia continued to dominate Homo PP supplies, whereas South Korea remained the leading supplier of PP Copolymer.
Combined imports of LDPE, LLDPE, mLLDPE and HDPE also improved, increasing 10% from May, although total volumes were still 5% lower than a year earlier. Import value rose to around $266 million, supported by stronger prices. The United States remained the leading supplier across most PE grades, with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Uzbekistan, Germany, South Korea and Spain also contributing significant volumes depending on the product.
After declining in both April and May, PVC imports rebounded in June. Import volumes increased 14% from the previous month and 23% year-on-year, while the total import value reached $93.5 million, marking a 25% monthly and 50% annual increase. The United States retained its position as Turkey's largest PVC supplier, followed by Russia and South Korea.
Among styrenics, PS, EPS and ABS posted mixed monthly performance but showed notable growth compared to last year. PS imports declined from May but remained substantially higher than June 2025, while EPS imports also fell on a monthly basis despite recording the strongest annual growth. ABS imports eased from May but continued to post healthy year-on-year gains, with South Korea maintaining its position as the dominant supplier.
PET bottle-grade imports recorded the sharpest monthly increase, more than doubling from May and surpassing 10,000 tons for the first time since January, although volumes remained below last year's level. China was the largest supplier, followed by Malaysia and South Korea. Meanwhile, PET textile imports also rose strongly on both a monthly and annual basis, with Malaysia remaining the leading source, ahead of China and Nigeria.
Overall, June saw a broad recovery in Turkey's polymer imports, supported by stronger inflows of PP, PE, PVC and PET. While some product segments continued to show mixed annual trends, the latest figures indicate a noticeable improvement in import activity compared with the previous month.
