Market Rumours: PP, PE, and PVC Domestic Updates of India

India's domestic polymer market is witnessing varied trends across different polymer types. According to recent updates, LDPE has recorded a significant weekly gain of 1.86%, while HDPE has experienced a decline of 0.67% over the same period. PVC, on the other hand, has shown strong quarterly growth, leading with a 25.50% increase.
The market dynamics are influenced by several factors, including supply and demand fluctuations, macroeconomic conditions, and the introduction of new production capacities. The Asia Polyethylene Report highlights that 2025 was challenging for producers, with commodity margins remaining negative for the fourth consecutive year. The outlook for 2026 suggests further pressure on prices due to new capacities entering the market.
India's PVC production capacity is currently between 1.6 to 1.8 million tonnes annually, while demand stands at approximately 4.1 million tonnes. This imbalance could be a driving factor for the observed price increases in the PVC segment.
