LDPE Prices Rise in Asia Amid Shipment Delays and Limited Availability

Low density polyethylene (LDPE) prices have experienced an upward trend across Asia, primarily driven by shipment delays and limited import availability, especially from the Middle East. In India, a Saudi producer has offered LDPE at USD 1,530 per metric ton CFR, while Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has increased LDPE prices multiple times since September 1st.
In the Indian market, LDPE film prices are currently assessed at USD 1,480–1,530 per metric ton CFR, marking an increase of USD 20–30 per metric ton from the previous week. Southeast Asia has seen a more significant rise, with prices climbing by USD 60–70 per metric ton, whereas the Far East Asia market remains stable at USD 1,320–1,370 per metric ton CFR.
Despite these increases, buyers are approaching the market with caution due to the higher freight costs and the ongoing shipment delays. Chinese cargoes have become relatively more available, and the demand surge from holiday stockpiling has subsided, which may influence future pricing dynamics.
