LDPE Prices Rise Across Asia Amid Higher Feedstock Costs and Tight Supply

Low density polyethylene (LDPE) prices have seen an upward trend across Asia, driven by firmer ethylene and energy costs. The market is also experiencing tight spot availability and higher overseas import offers, contributing to the price increase. Freight costs and shipment delays have further supported the price rise.
In India, LDPE prices on a CFR basis have been assessed at USD 1,420-1,480 per metric ton, marking an increase of USD 20-30 per metric ton compared to the previous week. Additionally, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has raised prices for LDPE EC and MP grades by Rs 3 per kilogram and other LDPE grades by Re 1 per kilogram, effective from September 1.
Despite the price increases, downstream converters have remained cautious, limiting their buying momentum. The current market conditions highlight the challenges faced by the industry due to higher feedstock costs and supply constraints.
