Indian PVC Producers Announce Third Price Increase in Under Three Weeks

Effective August 13, leading domestic producers increased prices of suspension PVC by INR1,000/ton ($11/ton) and paste resins by INR3,000/ton ($31/ton). Other major producers quickly followed with similar revisions.
Since late July, cumulative domestic PVC increases have reached around INR6,000/ton ($63/ton) for high-K suspension grades, including K67, and up to INR9,000/ton ($94/ton) for low-K and specialty paste resin grades.
The latest domestic hike comes as India’s import PVC market continues to strengthen. A major Taiwanese producer recently raised its August offer to India by a further $20/ton to $880/ton CIF India. Higher international prices have increased import replacement costs, giving domestic producers greater room to raise local prices while maintaining their competitiveness against imported material.
Upstream costs are also supporting the domestic market. Firmer prices for key feedstocks, including ethylene and ethylene dichloride, have increased production costs and put pressure on margins for chlor-alkali and PVC producers across Asia. This has encouraged suppliers to defend higher price levels rather than compete through discounts.
Meanwhile, downstream sectors such as agricultural irrigation and rigid pipe manufacturing are gradually absorbing the higher raw material costs amid tighter spot availability.
With domestic supply conditions remaining firm and international benchmarks continuing to provide support, India’s PVC market is expected to stay well supported in the near term, particularly if import prices maintain their upward trend ahead of the next demand cycle.
