Analysis of China's Propylene Oxide Import and Export Data for April

According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China imported 9,800 tonnes of propylene oxide in April 2026, marking a substantial year-on-year increase of 400.0%. The primary sources of these imports were Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore, with Thailand contributing the largest share of 3,000 tonnes, accounting for 30.6% of the total imports.



On the export front, China shipped out 1,700 tonnes of propylene oxide in April, which represents a remarkable year-on-year growth of 799.1%. Japan was the predominant destination for these exports, receiving 1,500 tonnes, which constituted 86.3% of the total exports.



For the first four months of 2026, China's propylene oxide imports totaled 45,400 tonnes, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 10.6%. The major import partners during this period were Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. Meanwhile, exports reached 1,800 tonnes, up 111.1% compared to the same period last year, with Japan remaining the primary export market.
