China's August S-PVC Exports Surge with Increased Demand from India

China's suspension polyvinyl chloride (S-PVC) exports experienced a notable increase in August, primarily fueled by heightened demand from India. This surge underscores the growing import needs of India and the availability of Chinese exports.
India has emerged as a key destination for China's S-PVC, reflecting its robust demand for the material, which is essential in construction and agriculture sectors. This demand is likely influenced by ongoing government incentives aimed at boosting these industries.
Despite this increase in imports, India has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into S-PVC imports from several countries, including China. This investigation, launched by India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is focused on determining whether these imports are being dumped into the Indian market at unfair prices.
India's domestic PVC production capacity stands at 1.6 million tons per year, with plans to expand to 3.8 million tons by 2028. This expansion aims to reduce dependency on imports, although delays in capacity start-ups could maintain import levels in the short term.
