Operations at a ONGC Opal PP Plant Temporarily Shut Down due to a critical malfunction in the extruder section, the company (ONGC) announced on 22nd August, 2025
According to the disclosure made under SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, an expert vendor has assessed the damage and confirmed that the affected extruder part is beyond repair. Manufacturing a new spare part, in strict compliance with OEM specifications, is expected to take approximately 5–7 weeks.
While the PP plant remains non-operational, the company’s Cracker unit and other associated plants continue to run at reduced throughput to maintain overall operations.
A company spokesperson stated, “We are taking all necessary steps to expedite the repair process and minimize downtime. Our priority is to resume production as early as possible while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.”
The company has assured that it will keep the stock exchange and stakeholders informed of any updates and will notify as soon as the PP plant restarts operations.
