China’s major producers’ polyolefin inventories continue to fall on week

China’s polyolefin market saw another decline in inventories this week, with combined PP and PE stocks held by the country’s two largest producers moving closer to the 600,000-ton level.

Market sources reported that total inventories stood at around 610,000 tons as of July 3, down by 30,000 tons from the previous week, representing a decrease of nearly 5%. A significant portion of the decline occurred earlier in the week when stocks dropped sharply within a short period, contributing to the overall weekly reduction.

Market participants attributed the inventory drawdown to improved buying interest following recent price corrections. Some converters and traders returned to the market to replenish limited volumes, particularly ahead of the weekend.

At the same time, ongoing production management and operating rate adjustments by major producers helped prevent inventory accumulation. Despite weak downstream demand, controlled supply and selective restocking activity have continued to support inventory levels.

Market players will continue to monitor demand recovery and producer operating strategies in the coming weeks, as both factors are expected to influence inventory trends and overall market sentiment.
