HDPE, LLDPE Price Protection Announced - South Asia Import Offers Decline Sharply

In a bid to stabilize the market amid a soft demand environment, major Indian producers like Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and Hindustan Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) have announced price protection measures for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE). This move comes as import offers for these polymers in South Asia have seen significant declines.
According to recent market updates, import offers for HDPE injection molding have dropped by $85 to $1295 per metric ton, while HDPE blow molding and film grades have decreased by $100 to the same price level. Meanwhile, LLDPE offers have fallen by $110 to $1275 per metric ton. These reductions highlight the ongoing pressure on prices due to weak demand and cautious buying activity across the region.
Despite these declines, domestic prices in India have remained stable, supported by the price protection strategies of local producers. However, the broader market sentiment remains subdued, influenced by factors such as high inventory levels and limited purchasing by converters.
In other parts of Asia, HDPE prices have remained stable, with some regions experiencing slight adjustments due to geopolitical tensions and supply disruptions. The market continues to navigate challenges such as competitive domestic pricing and fluctuating import margins.
