Price Protection Announced for HDPE, LLDPE by Indian Producers; South Asia Offers Drop

Price Protection Announced for HDPE, LLDPE by Indian Producers; South Asia Offers Drop

In response to volatile market conditions, major Indian producers have announced price protection measures for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE). This move comes as a strategic effort to stabilize prices amidst fluctuating supply and demand dynamics.

Meanwhile, import offers in South Asia are witnessing a downward trend across various polymer grades. The easing of supply pressures, following earlier disruptions in the Middle East, has led to a decrease in prices. Specifically, polypropylene (PP) offers have dropped by $30-45 per metric ton, HDPE by $85-100 per metric ton, LLDPE by $110 per metric ton, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) by $50 per metric ton.

The price protection initiative by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) for HDPE and LLDPE is aimed at providing stability and confidence to buyers in the Indian market. This measure is particularly significant in the context of the current global supply chain challenges and price volatility.
