Indian Producers Resume PE Hikes After Brief Pause

Indian polyethylene (PE) producers have resumed price hikes after a brief pause, with significant adjustments announced by major players. Reliance, a leading domestic producer, has increased the prices of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) by Rs. 1/kg. Additionally, low-density polyethylene (LDPE) grades have seen a price rise ranging from Rs. 1 to Rs. 3/kg, effective from June 10, 2026.
This move comes in the wake of a weakening Indian Rupee, which has made imported raw materials more expensive. The exchange rate currently stands at ₹92/USD, adding pressure on domestic producers to adjust prices to maintain margins.
The resumption of price hikes highlights the ongoing volatility in the polymer market, driven by currency fluctuations and global supply chain challenges. Buyers in the B2B sector should anticipate further adjustments as the market reacts to these economic pressures.
