Major Indonesian Producer Announces Further Sharp Cuts in Local PP and PE Prices

A major Indonesian producer has implemented another round of significant price reductions for local PP and PE grades as weak market conditions continue to pressure the country’s polyolefin sector.

Market sources said the repeated downward revisions come as supply availability improved following the producer’s return to operations after an earlier force majeure, while downstream demand continues to remain slow.

On the PE side, the producer reduced prices for LLDPE film and injection grades by IDR1,040,000/ton, while HDPE film prices were lowered by IDR520,000/ton.

PP grades also witnessed sharp corrections, with homo-PP film recording the biggest drop.

IDR 24,970,000/ton (Down IDR 350,000)

Market participants noted that weak buying interest and sufficient local availability continue to keep pressure on Indonesia’s domestic polyolefin market.
