Saudi producer lifts May PP and PE offers in domestic market

A major Saudi producer has announced its May pricing for polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) in the local market, introducing fresh increases after the significant hikes implemented in April. The upward adjustments come as strong crude oil prices and ongoing regional tensions continue to support petrochemical costs.

PPH prices have been raised by SAR 136–137 per ton ($36–37/ton) compared to late April levels. PE prices have seen wider month-on-month increases ranging from SAR 125 to SAR 635 per ton ($33–169/ton), with HDPE film recording the highest rise, while LLDPE film posted the smallest increase.

Market participants noted that firm pricing is being driven by elevated production costs and relatively tight supply. However, demand remains weak, with buyers continuing to limit purchases to essential requirements.

The new offers highlight continued cost pressure in the market, although buying sentiment remains cautious due to slow end-user demand.
