Al-Waha PP block copolymer supply disrupted under force majeure due to feedstock issues

Polypropylene (PP) block copolymer supplies from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Waha have been impacted after a force majeure was declared, affecting shipments scheduled for March–April 2026.
According to a customer notice from LyondellBasell, supply from its joint venture partner Al-Waha has been severely disrupted due to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region. The situation has affected energy infrastructure and significantly disrupted the availability and logistics of key feedstock, particularly ethylene.
Despite attempts to manage the situation, including efforts to source ethylene from alternative channels, the producer has been unable to sustain production or meet its contractual supply commitments for both current and pending orders.
As a result, force majeure has been invoked, temporarily suspending contractual obligations for the affected volumes. Customers have been informed that updates will be provided once conditions improve and supply operations can return to normal.
Al-Waha operates polypropylene production facilities in Al Jubail with a total capacity of around 600,000 tons per year, making the disruption significant for regional PP availability.
