Advanced Petrochemical halts Saudi PP plants, cancels pending April shipments

Advanced Petrochemical halts Saudi PP plants, cancels pending April shipments
Saudi Arabia’s Advanced Petrochemical Company has temporarily shut down its polypropylene (PP) production units at Jubail Industrial City, taking around 1.28 million tons per year of capacity offline. The disruption affects both the Jubail I plant with a capacity of 480,000 tons per year and the Jubail II facility producing 800,000 tons per year. The duration of the shutdown has not yet been specified.

In addition to suspending operations, the company has informed customers that all April orders which had not been shipped as of the beginning of the month have been cancelled. This decision has been linked to unexpected challenges related to feedstock supply, production planning, and logistics.

The shutdown is expected to tighten polypropylene availability in the regional market, especially at a time when broader supply disruptions are already impacting output across Saudi Arabia. Market participants are closely monitoring the situation for its potential effects on supply and pricing trends.
